I want to paint Elfa system hardware?

I have a complete Elfa system from the Container Store. The metal hardware is white, I want to achieve a brushed metal look to go with my current decor. The hardware seems to have a high gloss possibly baked on paint or powder coat. I do not really know what the current paint method is. Please help me with options that will give a professional look. My system was very expensive, so I am not wanting to buy new hardware. What method can I use to cover the white with a brushed metal effect successfully?
