Is a Ph.D of any use outside the academic/research field?

I'm considering enrolling on a Ph.D program in the Politics area of study, however I'm not interested in following an academic/research professional career. Would a Ph.D degree be of any use for any other jobs or would employers simply ignore it and focus on applicants with other professional skills and competences? Thanks!

I played once and he beat me sooo bad. then he kept asking. we are both in FFA and we both joined the same float committee. one day we stayed after school to work on it. there were four of us and a teacher. he kept talking to me and then, when everyone was done, they left. that left us. he used a thin wood strip and some string to make a toy bow. then he used smaller wood strips for arrows. he was trying to make me laugh. we have been friends since 3rd grade when we were first in the same class. I remember arguing about horses. we still argue, but none of it is over anything serious. it is just for fun. well, anyways, that was the first time we were alone together. he kept looking into my eyes with his and they sparkled. he has a girlfriend and I am pretty sure it is a long distance sort of thing. he is always calling me a bad kid, which is opposite of what I am, and won't tell me why. I figure that he is just trying to get a reaction out of me. then, one saturday, our school marching band was performing in two parades. I was sitting alone. there were only 2 seats he could sit in. mine and another guy's. for the ride to one, he sat with the other guy. the ride to the second one, he told me to slide in and share the seat. does any of this mean that he likes me?

Chevy 350 fuel injected vs carb?

I have purchased a 69 chevy nova. i'm going to try and use this vehicle as a daily driver. at some point in the near future im going to do a complete overhaul on the engine. I was looking at the nice edelbrock 4 barrels and i got to thinking. Infected bellybutton piercing?

About a month and a half to two months ago, I got my belly button pierced by a friend who happens to be a professional piercer/tattoo artist. I have been cleaning it regularly with soap and noticed it was infected, since then I have been using hydrogen peroxide on the holes, and soaking the jewelry in it too. I have also been washing it in the shower and I do both of these things daily. Yet the holes are still red and do get crusty but comes off easily, however there is still a light yellowish puss coming out from the bottom. Sometimes it hurts to touch the piercing, other times it doesn't. I am tempted to take it out because it's becoming a hassle but I heard that you should not take out an infected piercing and let it close up or else the infection will be trapped inside. Why does my car die as soon as i put it into gear?

I have a 91' Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra and it'll start fine and idle fine in park and neutral, but as soon as i put it into reverse or drive it dies. It is has an automatic transmission. It's fuel injected. It has a V6 engine. It was running fine yesterday but today i drove around for about 20 mins. and when i came to park it, it died just as i pulled in and while i was driving whenever i took my foot off the accellerator it would start to sputter/shake a little bit and would sound like it was about to die and then as soon as i pressed the accelerator again it would be fine. so i started my car back up so i could park properly and then as soon as i put it into gear it died again. I tried to let it sit in park for a couple minutes and it was idling fine but when i put it in gear it died, i also tried reverse and it died as soon as i put it in gear there too. So if anyone can tell me what's wrong or what could be wrong that would help because i don't want to take it to a shop if it's something easy.

I wouldn't suggest getting a DSLR if you aren't serious about photography because they can get really pricey. Point and shoots can produce some really nice photos too. Maybe try getting one of the hybrids they have out right now. Nikon has some point and shoots that are kind of like DSLRs. Look into one of those as a possibility. I'd go with a point and shoot though in your situation.

6 cyl injectors in a 4 cyl toyota ?

I have bought a Toyota 4x4 that has the 22r motor and is fuel injected. The truck is getting gas through the fuel rail and over the top of the injectors but is not starting. The truck turns over when I turn the key. It also fires on ether and when I atomized gas into the planum (or w.e. you call the thing that says EFI that sits over the fuel rail). The injectors were pretty clogged up and the O-rings were shot so that's most likely the problem. I know where I can get injectors for a 6 cyl Toyota EFI but I don't know if they will work with my 4 cyl. So that's my question. Also any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

My 2004 pontiac grand am keeps stalling on very hot days.?

when it gets hot out after driving awhile all of a sudden the idle drops and starts to lug, if I give it any gas it will stall immediately, if i put it into neutral and dont touch the gas and let it just chug a little after about 1-2 minutes all of a sudden it will "catch" and the idle goes up to smooth and normal and i can drive off. If it stalls it wont start up for usually at least 5 minutes. Most does this in the city. on the highway its much better, but it stalls almost every time on my way ho,e as soon as i crest the mountain and start going downhill. It did this last summer as well and did not do it once over the winter. After it stalls the first time, and i get it running again my cruise control wont work at all, even when im on the highway running good. not until i let it sit for a few hours will the cruise work. I have checked at the schraeder valve on the fuel rail when thiis happens and it seems to have good pressure still. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it! thank you... btw it has a 3400 v6 and is a automatic. car does not seem to overheat when this happens, its usually tight around the middle of the gauge. How to build a good tbi 350?

hi i'm 17 years old and i'm restoring a 1987 chevy truck. The truck is supposed to be a 350 tbi but it is carbureted idk if the engine was motified for the carb or is a whole different engine. The motor is worn out and im going to remove it and im gonna replace it with either a 1977 block which i would rebuild or a 1988 tbi motor. I really like the fuel injected motors but i want to build it into a mild 300 horse engine that can haul trailer loads of scrap and firewood and have some fun offroading and show off a bit around town. I've been leaning towards the 77 block because there seems to be a lot more aftermarket parts out for carbed motors but i really don't want to give up on the fuel injected motor. I like how it makes some really nice low end torque. Either engine i will have bored 40 over and after that i really don't know where i should go with the tbi motor. i have the 77 planned out but i'd like to know how to build a good low to mid range rpm tbi motor and im open to any suggestions thank you.

My friend is a very lively and cheerful person, bu she's so pessimistic. Pessimistic not in the way that she gets easily depressed. I'll just tell you what I think of her. How likely is it to get Rabies in countries such as Tanzania and Kenya?

How can we make sure that todays girls grow up to be small and petite?

Women today seem to be a lot taller than they were a century ago. In my opinion many are overweight or too tall to be as feminine as they could be. I believe the overweight problem is caused by girls trying to eat like men and I credit the all the animals injected with hormones that they are eating as causing their height to be abnormal. I think girls need to eat more organic food and not be allowed to eat any meat that has come from an animal injected with hormones. Women are much more cute when they are short and petite.

I play Ice Hockey, and to keep everything short. I think I have no future. My grades sucks, I cant get into college out of HS, and Hockey is the hardest sport to get into professional. Well, after interviewing with a company in Chicago a couple weeks ago, they just extended an offer to me today and I told them I would have an answer by the end of the week. It's a good company and the pay is along the lines of what I'm looking for, but now I obviously have to relocate. I had a filling pop out while eating taffy a few days ago, and need to get it replaced. The dentist said there's no new cavities and they just need to re-do the filling process. I have a serious needle phobia and am curious as to whether I will be injected with anesthetic before the procedure, or if it can be skipped when drilling is not required.

How to cure water damage on my phone?

I was on vacation and forgot I had my phone in my pocket while I was wading in the waves in the ocean and the wave splashed me. My phone still works fine, but I'm a huge music-lover, and always loved plugging in my stereo headphones into my phone to listen to my favorite music. I take an inframuscular injection every week, and I've accidentally been doing it at the same injection site.?

And now I think something may be wrong. I didn't realize I was suppose to alternate injection sites, and instead I've been taking it at the same leg. Sooo I twisted my ankle...?

I just need some advice from people that have fallen/gotten sprains a lot or just from any professional. So I thought I would try to learn how to skateboard this summer... yeah... so I fell in some weird position and my ankle and calf have been killing me.
